Choosing a model and thinking effort

Choose an available model

Open the answer control in the composer, then choose Model. Pick from the models available to your account, such as Quick or Thorough. If an option is unavailable, read the explanation rather than assuming the selection took effect.

Set thinking effort

Where the selected model supports it, adjust the thinking-effort control. The slider offers the supported levels, such as Light, Balanced, or Deep. Effort is a separate choice from the model.

More effort can take longer and use more allowance. It isn't a guarantee of correctness. Incognito uses Light effort and does not offer the effort slider.

Check what answered

The answer can show which model and effort were used. Changing the composer selection applies to a subsequent request; it does not rewrite an answer already on screen. Use Try again when you want a new answer to an existing question.
